ACL + Arizona

8:51 PMEllen Hunt

This past week and a half has been insane! The first and most important news is...

Eric finally got his ACL surgery!

Eric went in for a doctor's appointment on the 23rd of July, five months after the initial injury, to discuss the status of his knee and to schedule a surgery time. So he sat down with the doctor and the doctor basically said, "Alright, surgery will be this Tuesday." WOW. Five days. Now, apart of me is really happy that Eric can have this surgery and that he doesn't have to wait a long time and he can finally get on the road of recovery. But we are also moving. We are packing boxes up and going up and down stairs, and I'm not the strongest person in the world. Well whatever, I got over it and looked forward to Eric getting better. It's sad, I can't really remember what it looks like for him to walk without limping.

July 28th

So Eric's father had come to stay with us for a couple of days to help with Eric and packing. We got down to the surgery center and Eric was feeling nervous. He got all ready with his hospital gown and surgical blue cap. He was pretty adorable, and his only complaint was that he didn't like how he had to be naked. Surprise, surprise.

His surgery took about two hours, maybe a little more, but when he came out? Basically put a four year old into the body of a 6' 6'' tall grown man and you have Eric Hunt under the effects of anesthesia. I have never felt bigger than Eric in the entire time we have been together, but when he started crying about the nurses taking his blue surgical cap I just wanted to hold him forever. He was so adorable. If you want to see the video I took of him it's on my Facebook, it's pretty dang entertaining. Eric was very sweet when he was out of it, saying that I was so pretty and that he couldn't believe I married him and how lucky he was. It was pretty nice. :)

Doesn't he look like a confused four year old. I love it. <3

After a couple tears and utter despair the nurses gave Eric another blue hat, which made him so happy. Seriously I was falling in love all over again, he was such a big baby. :)

After an hour we took him home and he was still pretty out of it, but recovering. All he talked about was how much he wanted Chick-fil-a. So we got home, got him all settled and he was feeling pretty good. Next day he went back to the doctor's office to take off the initial surgical wrappings and his wound was/is pretty gnarly.

Crazy right?

So Eric's on his way to healing and I'm really excited for him. Also big shout out to Dan the man because the majority of the packing he did while I was at work one day. Very grateful.

Oh yeah and...

Four More Days Till AZ!!

Saying I'm excited to move to Arizona is a bit of an understatement. When I get asked "Where do you prefer? California or Arizona?" I almost shout "ARIZONA!". You know it's funny how often growing up I felt I wanted to move someplace else, California actually being one of them. The only good part of California for me is the beach, the weather and a handful of people. That's it. California is all good and wonderful in your head, but the truth is you need to be in the right place to love it, and you need a lot of money. Granted I live in the armpit of California, but in that time I have driven all over Southern California and it is just not for me. I miss the desert! I miss being 20 minutes from complete wilderness. The desert is so beautiful. I miss the sunsets! No sunset is better than the one over the Arizona horizon, not even an ocean sunset. I actually have learned to appreciate the dry heat, isn't that funny? I realized that there is no point to curling my hair here because in one hour it'll be completely deflated. It was driving me crazy thinking "I have never had this problem before" and it was really upsetting! Then I realized it was all the moisture in the air. With Arizona's dry heat comes almost 0% humidity at times so you're hair styles stay intact for longer. Pretty dumb, but its discouraging for me! I work so dang hard on my hair. The highways...those freaking highways. I don't even bother with people trying to give me verbal directions because I have no idea what they're saying. "Get on the five and then merge onto the ten and the drive a little ways to get off on the 91. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HIGHWAYS. Driving in Arizona is so simple. The worst traffic jam in Arizona I have ever been through just took me 30 minutes to get out of. My worst one here? TWO HOURS. In the space of 30 minutes I drove 500 feet. It's ridiculous here. It's even worse in L. A. People who say "Oh it's ok, I can deal with the traffic", give it three months, you'll develop serious road rage. I'm just an Arizona girl through and through, and I married an Arizona boy, and we shall have Arizona children. Alright, California hate rant over, I am just so excited!! I'm excited to be with my friends, I'm excited to be with my family, I'm excited to go to school. Eric and I have been looking forward to coming home since the day we moved to Cali. AND IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!

Arizona lovin'. :)
